Help with my U10 please! (Pics are up)

I posted my issue several weeks ago, however, after having contacted iRiver and not having received a reponse, I would seriously appreciate advice as for what I should do. My U10's screen, or LCD, seems to have gone completely berzerk for no reason. This started happening spontaneously, and it is not the result of dropping or cracking the music player; there is NO crack on the screen. Here are some pictures:

Have any of you ever seen this problem before? It should be noted that the stars and other odd things in my screen keep wandering around; in addition to this, there are some instances where there is absolutely no issue with the screen, but it starts up again shortly thereafter. I'm wondering if it could be a disconnection issue between the screen and the hardware, but I'm not really knowledgeable with regards to such things. I don't believe that I have a warranty on it, so is there any way that I could rectify this problem myself? For instance, opening it up and fixing something? Or should I repair it using the repair service here? If so, would it be a screen issue or something else?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Or it may be a thermal issue... This looks really strange, how old is your DAP?, 'cause it looks like faulty hardare.

No, it is a well known memory chip(?) defect that happen randomly on U10. There isn't a solution for it (that you can do), you will need to call iriver and get a RMA.

It is actually the connection to the screen. A small contact connected to a flexible circuit board from the screen is not soldered properly, or at least that was the problem on my U10 and it looked exaktly as the pictures above. Send it in for repairs or replacement.

I just got a U10 off of ebay (15 bucks!!!) with this exact problem, and like blackroom stated, it looks like a bridged connection on the display cable. The one I have, though, looks like it might have been a moisture problem that caused corrosion on one of the legs and ended up bridging two of the connections. I don't have my little fiberglass brush to clean the contacts off, but I'm going to try and get it cleaned off somehow and see if that fixes the screen problem.

I'm not sure if anyone has similar problem now, but I've just solved mine. My U10's screen got crazy about two weeks ago. At first I thought that maybe some wet steam got inside (or something), so I disassembled the player very carefully. In my case it turned out that the plug connecting main board and the screen was a little loose. Maybe it was because of the whole moving-screen thing.
So I've put some paper under the plug to cause a little more pressure, and cleaned all parts occasionally. After I put whole thing back together - it works like new
