Successful formatted clix - Some files remain - Why?

Hi again:

First of all, many thanks to the forum and the experts for giving such great and detailed advice on solving our newbie problems with the clix.

I upgraded firmware and formatted (I believe the program did all that by itself) the clix with the official upgrade site. Now it reads firmware 2.01US.

There is one thing I did not expect to be like it is:

one picture file and about 24 song files (2 complete cds I had copied on the clix when he started having problems) were still on the clix even after the upgrade and format process and they were perfectly identified and audible. Why is that? Does the format process not delete all files? Were these files perhaps in "special" folders? Or did the program want to be user-friendly and has restored them after formatting the clix?

I hope this is an easy thing to explain.

I have also seen that the clix does not have the same folders as stated in the manual that speaks of folders like Internal Memory. Also, e.g. instead of a folder Videos, it is called Video. Is this just a difference between firmware versions?

Another thing about the original material provided is the CD where it says it has WMP 11 but actually it has only version 10. Has anybody else seen this?

Thanks for helping.

First how did you format the unit, did you format from WMP or within the Clix?

I believe that you are correct, the firmware update does change some of the names for the folders inside the Clix.

The version of WMP on my cd are WMP10 and 11, alas on one of my computers it only installed the runtime for 11 as for some reason the full player could not be installed, however the redistributable version off MS's site installed just fine here.

Try reformatting your Clix from within the firmware, if it does not work, format from WMP. Do not just remove the files from Explorer, as that may corrupt the database (easily corrected by reformatting, but if in your case this seems to be a problem, first rule out formatting is working properly)

It is very simple: it didn't format your clix, just reset. You will have to format it yourself, either from windows, WMP, or clix (in 'setting') or it will be a little lag.

Don't use the stuff on CD (it should be WMP11 beta, I believe). Get the final version of WMP11 from MS. WMP11 is much less problematic when it come to MTP. Once you upgrade to WMP11, format your clix and sync back all your files.
Also, It doesn't matter what folder name it has, MTP will take care of that.

I just wanted to let you know that after I fixed the initial problems with the Clix 1 bought for Christmas 2006, my daughter has been using the player permanently and almost daily since then and is loading and unloading music and she has not had any problems with her Clix 1 since that time.

Thanks for your advice and a big applause for this iriver Clix 1 (2 GB) !!
