I have nothing to add, since I haven't received my Clix yet, but I did notice some grammar issues. Cleaning up that a bit would help a newbie like myself. For instance, the headings "How to use do a manual updating on clix?" and "Can I charge the wallpaper on clix?" don't really make any sense to me. I get the gist of what you're trying to say, but it can be confusing.
Thanks for putting this together. -Lori |

I'd like more information on the pros/cons of using MediaMonkey vs. WMP 11.
Also some information on the limitations of Ogg Vorbis support and workarounds would be welcome. Would it be possible to put up a Wiki page? |

I think it would be nice to have information about deleting songs from the Clix itself (not using software). I know I've seen that in the forums, but it would be handy to have the information in the FAQ.
Thanks! |

go to my computer and then open clix folder. you should see the flash games folder. just copy the swf file there and you should be able to run the game.

Got an FAQ (maybe)
Q "Can I use my Clix on Linux?" A "Yes, you can. However it is not completely supported as you require the aid of a special library: libmtp. If you happen to have a Clix with firmware 1.11 you may attempt to use the gnomad2 program to sync your Clix using libmtp-0.0.2x, this version, though does not support firmwares 2.x which leaves Clix 4Gb and any updated Clix versions out. For these, however you may use libmpt-0.1.x which do communicate with 2.x firmwares, however you will have to do everthing from the command line." And direct to some documentation (that I'm in the process of writing) as to how to use the Clix from the command line in Linux (and probably, MacOS X [10.3.x+). Edit (Extensive) Updated with an actual link to the libmtp site, also most Linux distributions should have available (either on the isntallation media or Internet repositories) this library. Most likely the version shipped with many distros is one of the 0.0.2x series (alpha releases). With this version, though, it is also possible to have Amarok to do part of the job of sending files over to the Clix (however you must specify the device manually and select the type of device [MTP] in Amarok). Amarok (with libmtp-0.0.2x) will create the directories and Artist, Album and Genre entries in the database, however will fail to actually send any files, which must be done manually through command line. This is valid for firmware 1.11 only. Regarding the charging issue, once you start a session on the Clix (by either running the command mtp-detect or by starting Amarok or gnomad2), the Clix will charge, otherwise it will not. It is not necessary to leave the programs open, as once the session has been started, the Clix will charge even if there is no communication with it. Warning: Your Clix may "lockup". Not a real lockup, but the communication with the computer will be jammed, meaning it will fail to open any subsequent sessions, once an operation fails (such as sending a file or creating a directory). Don't panic!! simply unplugging your Clix and replugging it again, will solve this issue. Nothing will happen, even if the error message on the screen sates that you should "reset" your Clix, by that it actually means to re-plug it. I'll gather all I know about the Clix, libmtp and Linux/MacOS (&BSD) and summirize it in a HowTo-like thread, so it can be linked in the FAQ. When the H3xx FAQ forum was added, I copied across a number of threads from the H1xx forum. You might want to trawl through the H1xx and H3xx FAQs and see if there is anything of use as well

Just read the faq and I have a question and a clarification.
Can I delete files without connecting my clix to a PC? Am I correct that at this point you can't do this with the 4gb? Also both WMP and media monkey are mentioned for file management. Can winamp be used as well? |
|

|
You can delete files with the 2G or the 4G on the fly by using the browse menu.
Yes you can also use WinAmp, but there was some field that they didn't write which I have now forgotton (may have been the track number? Meaning your music would not show up in album order.)

you do a great job on FAQs here - but I feel quality could be even better when more people would join and add their info to the wiki section. Since everyone may add and improve data over there, infos could be better presented and organized instead of blocking forum headers by sticky topics which are not necessarily that important.
