I Love Media Monkey!
Ok here we go; Since I am forced to use MTP I was using WMP10. Sometimes the songs were out of order or some were missing. I tried deleting folders and starting again. Then I would end up with duplicate songs even though the Clix folder in WMP showed everything was ok. Ugh! Album art? What album art? Occassionally I could get it to work but mostly not. Time to reformat (again.)
So after a break to settle down I decided to try Media Monkey. What a wonderful program! Suddenly I have album art on ALL of my music! My songs are in order and they all are there. It is SO easy to use. Just right click on an album and select sync to Clix. BINGO! It's also faster then WMP. I'm stuck using WMP for Video and Pictures. If Media Monkey ever adds that capability I will delete WMP completely. I'm not going to hold my breath hoping iriver creates a UMS firmware for the Clix. Media Monkey has made it possible to enjoy the Clix once again without a stack of error messages. Best of all it's free! |

MediaMonkey is a great mediaplayer but at least on my computer it is prone to crashing. It is also much slower than Musicmatch Jukebox (wich doesn't sync).
I have ended up using both - Musicmatch for handling media files and tags, and Media monkey for syncing with my H300 and listening.

Well the good thing about MediaMonkey, is it can auto-tag for you, and it will search amazon.com's database for matching album art, so you don't have to go through the trouble of searching for the right one.

IDK why its so hard for people, all u haver to do is highlite the songs u want album art with right click, advance tag editor, pictures tab, add it and make sure it says front cover and click OK and BOOM u have album art, i have album art in 100 percent of my songs. if u have to songs on ur clis just delte them using WMP (not explorer), and then resync them, and WMP 11 kicks the crap out of 10, since it also shows album art

Album art was actually the least of my problems. WMP10 puts the songs in the wrong order, sometimes it duplicates songs and sometimes it doesn't sync songs at all. It's a POC. Hopefully WMP11 will be a lot better. I'll wait till the 'final' release and see.

so you're saying it will search for each of my songs and apply album art? i dont really have albums but mainly random songs..
if it can search for the album art for all my music by just right clicking and applying album art and it will go through each song and apply whatever album art, then yea, im getting this |

help please!
hey well I got monkeymedia since a few members in this forum keeps menting it. The program is pretty cool but I can't seem to get the album art to work... I did the process of finding the album on amazon and I use the "auto-tag" tab. When I upload the .mp3 into my iriver clix the picture isn't displayed. I also made sure that the picture was on "Front(Cover)" Any suggestions?

My main problem with mediamonkey (unless they have fixed it recently) is that it trades verifying if the file already exists for speed.
What does that mean? WMP checks to see if the file exists on the device before trying to sync it. This check takes time. Mediamonkey just transfers without checking. Why do I care? #1 It takes longer if I happen to have duplicate files. #2 MTP is device agnostic and therefore based on object ID, not file name. As far as it is concerned the file name is just a property in a databse, but the object ID must be unique. This causes a problem when the device uses a FAT file system (not all but most do) - they get two files with the same name in the same location which FAT can't handle. Most devices (not the clix) will either crash or get a corrupted database when this happens. Some will catch the situtation and change the name (which the MTP spec supports) but mediamonkey can't handle when this happens. Bottom line: It just isn't worth the risk for me to save a few seconds. Edit: This is the same reason long path names crash devices. If Music + Artist + album + title is longer then 256 char the FAT filesystem on the device gives up. (Again doesn't happen on the clix).

In MediaMonmkey use the 'auto tag form Amazon' feature. When you see the album art just drag and drop it into the album art window on MM. Then when you sync the album the art will be there. (Basically the album art is copied to the album folder.)

so if i do that auto tag from Amazon, it will locate most if not all my songs? they're not catagorized by albums, and i have VA's and just random stuff.. should i give this a try? album art isnt too important to me but the blank thumbnail that takes up like half the screen is mighty annoying.

Right click on any song or album and choose Auto Tag from Amazon. It looks up in Amazon's database the information for the tags and fills them in if you choose to do so.

So, now that I have my new 4GB Clix (!!), I need to decide between Windows Media Player 11 and Media Monkey. What are the pros and cons of both programs, especially in regards to syncing with the Clix? And, does iTunes work with the Clix? I just ask because I don't think the others allow you to subscribe to podcasts. Thanks for any advice.

Wow F*** this. I go on MediaMonkey, do Auto-tag from Amazon. Then I check mark all of my songs and press the bottom autotag button. Woot, now all of my songs are done by The Rolling Stones and all 159 of them are can be found on the album Aftermath. How F****** retarded can this s*** get...
I don't know but if its this hard to autotag all of my songs, well, Media Monkey fails. |

Ok, is there anyway to make mediamonkey check the song by the name name of the song because it keeps showing me albums from amazon from the artist, but they dont have the song in them? |

you need to do each album's art individually in media monkey, which can take time but is worth it. in the library, browse by albums, right-click on the album name, auto-tag from amazon, make sure the 'cover art' button is checked and all the files are checked, then hit auto-tag.
another way to do it is to download the batch art finder script, which will search google for album art for all the files in your library that don't already have it. but your songs really all need to be tagged correctly (or at least, consistently) in the first place for this to save much time. |

I have WMP11 and it's perfect besides a few thumbnails missing. I did find a program for thumbnails but I forgot what it was.
EDIT: Thumbnail=AlbumArt |
