Thoughts on U10 cradle & Radio function

I have been reading about this, apparently the radio will not work while the player is in the cradle, which is a little disappointing and lacking for a bedside alarm clock.

I have had two thoughts and could anyone that owns a u10 and cradle clarify a few things or take my idea and try to prptotype something.

This could be a software thing or merely because there is no arial for the radio to pick up the signal. if the latter is the case would it be possible to modify an old 3.5mm jack plug or similar so that it could be connected to the player and have a length of wire coiled up behind the U10?

A few points to note there will have to be enough clearance in the cradle, and it would be bad to get the modified plug stuck in the player. could someone tell me the clearances around the player in the cradle and if it would be possible to have some thin wire tucked behind the player?

Ok tested mine , it wont play FM as an alarm whilst in cradle - a message appears saying this. I even tried setting this when out of the cradle - it works fine as long as it aint in the cradle-no luck.
No probs with mp3 though!
This is a bit disappointing , i suspect they forgot about the need for reception!
