Buying - iRiver U10
Yes, im going to buy the iRiver U10 2Gb Late this week or early next week. My iRiver H340 is on eBay at the moment, but you might be thinking why im going for something so small compared to my H340, the reason for this is because i listen to about 4 different bands a week, then the next week it keeps on changing, and since i love the drap and drop feature, i dont mind spending 5mins changing the bands every week. I really cant wait to get it, also, if i have enough money, im going to purchase the docking station

Yay cant wait

1gb will be enough, i think you can just use iriveter on movies, that will condense the movie to about 400-700mb(depending on movie length). Of course if you want more movies, then you can lower the bitrate and stuff like that to reduce the size

I wouldnt buy it solely for the video function, its a bit small to be watching movies. Will be good for funnies like the viral emails and phone clips and it is cute if you want a flash player....

Can anyone confirm when the 2GB model is out in the UK, some sites are now saying January 2006!!

You might want to check out CNet's video via this thread, in which you'll learn the dock is for 512MB/1GB models for the time being

Oh, and if by 'some' sites, you mean Amazon, they're usually pretty accurate .... although IIRC, MX2 have them for sale w/o saying they're not here yet ...

EDIT: OK, so I checked MX2 - they say it'll be available from 20/01/05, which must be typo for 20/01/06. They also give the option of buying a dock, so either that's also an error, or they know somethin' we don't

Yes i contacted mx2 and they said it will be out next year, but i emailed advancedmp3players and they said sometimes this can happen but they expect stock to be in this Friday.

Hi. First post.

I'm also interested in buying an iRiver U10. Currently owner of a 5G iPod (dont slate me). I basically just want another player, something on the smaller side which is nice to look at, fm radio and has quality playback. Always heard iRiver did quality sound and looking at the U10 it seems perfect.

I live in Edinburgh so I'll be calling advancedmp3players tomorrow to find out if they have any in stock. If they do will snap up a 2gb - no cradle yet cause of price - and will have a play about.

Hehe yea I was thinking about that. Did it with my shure e2c earphones the other day. Thing is dunno if they would accept the price match since its a brand new product plus mx2 havent released it yet.

If they do instore price match I'll be extremely happy. If not then over the phone is fine aswell. Would hope they'd let me pick it up same day though.

I did a price match with AMP3 and MX2 and AMP3 said they will knock it down to £189 plus free heaphones. Here is the email:

I called amp3 at their branch in ocean terminal. They dont have it instock instore but they should have them in on monday. Gives me enough time to pull together some funds.

As far as i can see this Mp3 is now delayed untill January.

I too have been interested in this, and finding the release date has been a struggle. I've been in contact with several websites including Amazon, Mp3, sendit, Warp9 (Ebay) Phantasia, and they are all saying Jan now, apart from AMP3 who have now changed from being the 27th of Oct to having none in stock (Did they get them in???)

I'm a little disappointed in this because it's just too long to wait now.

Seems amp3 have shifted back their date to Mon 9th January

I recieved an email back from them. I've been pestering all the main retailers for a couple weeks now, and they told me friday. I'm just waiting for them to turn around and say January though, like the rest of the retailers.
