[iMP-350] Remplacing "Ni-Mh" with "Li-ion&quo

Here's the quote of the post that i made a few days ago on the iriver.com forum, but unfortunately no-one answers me
So i post here, hoping somebody could answer or give me a part of answer... as it seems this forum is only made of enthusiasts

[iMP-350] Remplacing "Ni-Mh" with "Li-ion" batteries

I've got an iMP-350 player for about 2 years.

But today, the original batteries only last about 5h30 or 6h whereas they should (?) last about 23 hours (really???)

As said on this page:
http://www.iriver.com/product/info.asp?p_name=iMP-350

"Runs up to 23 hours with 2 NimH rechargeable batteries(including auxiliary battery pack)"

well in fact i didn't really understand this sentence... does that means : the TWO batteries PLUS the auxiliary battery pack last 23 hours, so let's say 8 hours for the batteries and 15 for the pack ???? i don't know

OK. But my question was if it's possible to use "Li-ion Polymer" batteries (as in the H series) instead of the Ni-Mh, because Li-ion batteries last longer.

Well another STRANGE thing, is the reference to the "memory effect" that have NI-Mh batteries.

Here: http://www.iriver.com/support/faq_vi...word=batteries

"A major advantage of NiMH battery technology, apart from lack of toxicity, is the absence of any memory effect - NiMH batteries are remarkably tolerant of frequent 'top-up' charging."

Well, ok. But a more recent document: http://www.iriver.com/support/faq_vi...p;word=battery
says:

" -. Why is Li-ion Polymer Battery selected?

1) No memory function and long lifetime (vs. Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh).
Stick battery such as Ni-Cd and Ni-Mh has memory function."

WTF ?!!!

So anyone got an answer to this ? Or the iRiver staff ?
Please

Pretty simple answers really.

Yes that does include the battery pack. I've never gotten that kind of battery life without the external pack.

No, of course not, the topology in both players is totally different. Not to mention that those batteries just weren't designed to work with the IMP's. Newer technology vs. older hardware. No ticky, no washy.

In any case, you can buy batteries for the IMP from a 3rd party vendor for $4 each ! So big difference compared to the $50 battery in the H series.

I hate to bump this thread, but my ignorance and desperation demands it. Sweet Spot, would you please link me to this 3rd party vendor if they have a home on the web? Thanks in advance.

OK.
I was busy these days, so i couldn't be there before.
Thank you for your answer, Sweet Spot, it makes it clearer for me.

I'm really surprise that a pair of such batteries only costs 4$ (~ 4 euros as i'm in France).

Well, yes if you know good online vendor, don't hesitate to post a link.

Thanks.
