just got an iRiver ChromeX!

howdy all,
as you might or might not know, its the school holidays down here in australia. and im bored shitless, for two whole months. so, i took a look on ebay today, and i find this VERY poorly listed cd player in the CD player category. so i click on it, and low and behold, its an iRiver ChromeX iMP-150, in excellent condition plus the remote! i thought, hell why not bid, got paid yesterday and want to blow it on something. so yeah, i bid on it, and win it for the princely sum of $26 including postage from melbourne for perspective, thats $20US or £10.

this guy has 100% feedback, 50 feedbacks total, most of them from successful sales. ive paid via netbank transfer today. really happy about this, i have absolutely no use for it but hey, cd player can come in handy! especially for the price.

anyone have one of these? what are they like?

Just for ref:-

It's the model they introduced around the time they were phasing out the iMP-250 (the iRiver 2) - it shares pretty much the same feature set, but lacks in-line charging i believe and it's antishock buffer is smaller and has a displayless remote.

Think of it as a budget priced 250, with the differences mentioned above, that was built during the iMP-350/400 transistion period.

Either way you look at it, it's a good price - for around $26 you aint gonna buy nothing new that's worthy of talking about as a MP3 or multi-codec CD player so it's a geniune bargain find.

Only way you could have done better, CDP wise, would have been to find an iMP-250 or 350/400 model for similar money. The odds on a working 550 for that kinda money (used) are too remote for words.

But the 250 was probably the only one of the alternative iRiver models you'd come close to finding for that kinda money used, and ironically enough.. people hung onto them

dang so no inline charging (thanks for the headsup, now i know what its technically called )

and dont get me wrong, if i could get a slimX of any model for $26 id sure as hell get that too. the only reason i was so lucky was because of how crap the listing was:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....e=STRK:MEWA:IT

if i didnt recognise it was even an iriver player i too wouldve passed over it. the guy should have got at least $50 for it if he posted it in the iriver category, actually gave some specs and talked it up - how is the average ebayer meant to know it plays mp3s?

bit of an update for those in the world of my chromeX

the guy posted it friday morning unfortunately. so i wont get it till about mid-week. and why did he send it via registered post? the thing costs $20 for crying out loud. should have sent it by express post, costs the same. for the record, my H120 arrived perfectly well by australia post parcel post (the cheapest version with no insurance). but oh well. bring on the iMP series!

I always send stuff recorded delivery if i'm selling something on ebay. No matter how much it's worth. I presume registered is similar to recorded in that you have to sign for it when it arrives?

yea, and its insured to the value that you state it is at the post office. most of the time when i recieve something by registered post they dont get me to sign, i just show them my ID and take it and leave. but its $20 for crying out loud. it couldve been sent for $3 less, not that i really care anymore but express costs the same and would mean id have it by monday.
