Very reliable from what I've read. Flamegrilled would be a good person to ask, he's used them as a back up audio source for broadcast radio and speaks quite highly of them.

yes! Mine still works after god knows how many years. I bought it when iRiver was still virtually unknown here in Australia. It still looks sexy, solid and reliable. Only thing is the battery cover hinge broke and now I have to hold it in place when listening which sucks BIGtime.
I was going to give it to dad but took a relisten recently because sound-wise the 550 just wasnt doing it. and just wow......is it my imagination but does the imp-250 seem louder and more punchier in the bass than the 550? plus i love that you can chuck in AA batteries and plug your phones straight in with no intermediate remote control, a freshing change from mucking around with too many cords for the 550. I'm on firmware 2.11 for my iRiver2 but just found out there's version 2.90 out for it. If anyone can link me to it would be real sweet of ya. Thanks! that's the first place I looked but the iriver site doesn't even list support for 250 any more. However! i just found out the iriver 250 is aka the riovolt sp250, so im researching em right now
EDIT: oops. my bad sorry - must have been looking at another site. gonna test it out right now! EDIT #2: hm. It looks like the firmware support for 250 stops at version 2.80. So I guess I'm still looking for that elusive version 2.90.... Last edited by Blutin : July 23rd, 2007 at 07:21 AM. |
