Which iMP *sounds* the best?

I got an iMP-350 a few years ago and thought the sound quality was *phenomenal!* Not only was it the nicest-sounding portable player I've ever owned, but also the loudest!

I was disappointed in the sound of the H120 and H340 that I owned afterwards. I liked the additional storage space, but they sound weak, they lack punch, the equalizers suck ("WOW" my ass!), and the songs sound lifeless in comparison.

Is there a difference in sound quality between, say, the iMP-350 & 550 or would you say they have the exact same amp? I'd like to hear from people who have owned both. Since I'm serious about sound, please reply if you've owned both ; not just one of the two.

I also am a proud owner of iMP 350. I never found 550 and wondered how that sounded. But to be honest, I think I also found iRiver to be very, very good with their portable CD player. But the problem I have now is the flat battery cannot be found or located to replace the old battery. So sad to lose this fine player due to the built in obsolescent battery design.

Wondering if anyone can advise me of which currently available personal CD player can be considered as a replacement for iMP series? Battery for the iMP series 350 and up is a major problem for me. I love the sound quality that iMP provided, but I need something more stable with battery...

TIA...
