iRiver2 (IMP-250)

Hi folks,

I have just picked up a brand new IMP-250 for USD 40.

As it was in version 1.00C (China version), i would like to upgrade the firmware to the latest version.

Now comes the questions;

1) Can i just download and burn the latest version or do i have to go through the begining?
2) Burned (4x) the mid version upgrade but ended with "No Disc", what could be wrong?

Thanks for your input if you have any. I know that is a old player but the playback is amazing, why should it go to waste.

once I read, that apart from HEX file, you need at least 100MB of non-music data on that CD...

1. Please make sure that you have downloaded the correct firmware from our website. In your CD Burning Software, please also make sure that both "Joliet" and "ISO9660" have been checked. SlimX will refuse to update the firmware if the above checkbox haven't been checked.

2. Please make a upgrade CD with data files other than music file.
You got this message because the *.hex file is too small for the player to read.

Thanks for your input, the part on the 100MB of non-music data is new to me. since i have waste 5 CD-R on this i might feed in 100MB of trash to check if this works.

As for the rest of the info., i have previously followed all those with no luck.

Thanks dude it WORKS!!!!!, i dump 24MB of trash with 1MB of quality firmware version 2.90

Now this iRiVER2 sings, looks and functions like a pure Geek.

dude do you mind sharing where you found the 2.90 firmware for the imp-250 (iRiver2)? I took a squizz at mine and it's still stuck on 2.11!

version 2.90 is on korean iriver site, I suppose...
