IMP-550 Gapless Audio-CD Playback?
I am considering the iRiver IMP-550, but have an important question about it:
Can it play pressed Audio CDs (Not MP3 CDs) gaplessly? When playing pressed (Not MP3, CD-R or CD-RW) Audio CDs, does it insert a momentary pause between tracks? That is, can it seamlessy transition from, say, "Track 1" to "Track 2" w/o a moment of silence that wouldn't be there otherwise? The TDK Mojo did this, leading me to retire it for a Sony Walkman. I specifically recall the transition between "The Happiest Days of our Lives" and "Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2" being totally ruined on Pink Floyd's The Wall. Again, Audio CDs, not MP3 CDs. Thanks! Last edited by QueeQueg1967 : January 27th, 2006 at 10:06 PM. |

Don't worry, the imp-550 does not insert a gap in playback of regular CD's. Just bought one from the close-out section and it is well worth it, especially with the optical out. Just set the volume to 40 and a flat EQ for true line out and you are all set. Allso, you need to make sure the skip protection is off or you will get compressed sound. Hold the +10 on the remote till you see the CD icon next to the album title and you will have the skip protection off. New firmware available from iriver Global too.
