<imp 1100> questions

i have few questions:
first, i wonder if i can just burn .avi file (for example: swat.avi) on data mode in nero and insert it to the imp 1100 and i see the movie on the lcd screen that on the imp 1100. -is it gonna be that simple?

second, i wonder how much the imp 1100 will cost?

Nobody knows for sure, but I would think it should be that easy since the player is capable of DivX playback.

However, there are different codecs available now, including XVid, and it is unknown whether iRiver will support these when the player is launched, and/or if they will regularly update the firmware to correct playback issues from the various codec versions.

Again, nobody knows for sure, but I would guess about $250-$350

Yeah, In case you didnt know the iMP-1100 on display was a hand-built prototype and it didnt appear to have much firmware so I bet that they have a LOT of designing left to do

terrymx - the imp1100 is one of the new 2004 iRiver products that they displayed at a recent trade show.

Seems like it plays DivX 3-5, XviD all at 30fps at very acceptable resolutions. It also has TV out, or you can view it on the LCD screen.

(Got info from iriver korea site)

Dumb idea...

I realize this is way old now relatively speaking.. but I just couldn't help but laugh...
This device is unfortunately way behind the time even in 2004. Only the geekiest would spend time condensing and reformatting DVDs/movies to fit onto CDs to watch on this stupid thing. Why buy this when portable DVD players that can already play MP3's were already comparable at least in price? Sure they're a bit bigger, but for the screen size... it's just not worth $280 to watch video on...
