Unhappy New SlimX 550 - faint static in background

I have had the SlimX 550 for 3 months now and updated to firmware 1.10. use Etymotic ER6i to compliment the sound. I noticed that when I turn the volume to zero, I hear a very faint staticy sound when I connect the earphones through the remote. Once music starts it is impossible to tell if the sound is there, but I can hear it in between loading, track changes, skipping tracks etc. There is no such noise when I connect to the line out or when I remove the remote and connect earphones directly to the headphone socket. Is this cause for concern, does it indicate a catastrophy is coming.

Other than that I could not ask for a better sounding and better designed or implemented player.

It seems like that is a common problems for some players. The static is cause by the remote I dont know if there is a real fix for this, you may try to replace the remote by ordering a new one or swap out to a new set of headphones. It really a no bg deal and your player it not defective, just relax enjoy you player the static is not really a big deal.
