Possible iRiver IMP-550 bug, Can anyone confirm?

Hello!

I noticed something which looks like a bug in my iRiver IMP-550 MP3 player, but before posting to iRiver Support, I wanted to know if anyone else can confirm this. So here we go...

I use the European 1.70 Firmware, but I doubt that it's important. For the test, you will need two CD-RWs and a CD-RW drive.
  1. Take the first CD-RW and burn about 500-700 MB of MP3s to it (so you fill the disc with audio files).
  2. Put the CD-RW in your iRiver and tell it to play a song which was burnt at the end of the disc so the lens moves towards the outer margin.
  3. Take the second CD-RW and do a full erase. Now burn about 10 MB of data, so that the position where the lens of the iRiver was is now blank.
  4. Put the second CD-RW in your iRiver and tell it to play.
I am not sure if this is related to the auto-resume function or not, but on my side, the MP3 player tries to pick up the data where the lens is. It keeps spinning the disc and trying to read. After about two minutes, it tells me that there isn't a disc inside.
Almost the same thing happens if you use a blank CD-R in step 3, but then the iRiver is moving the lens faster towards the inner margin and reaches the data part pretty soon.
I also tried using a quick-erased CD-RW (which was previously full of non-audio data) in step 3 and the player seemed to crash. The "Loading" animation stopped and nothing really happened. I guess because it read the old data which was on the CD-RW.

Regards,
Sebastian

I have a similar problem. I am using SlimX 550, firmware 1.10, here is what I noticed. Sometimes I turn off the player (holding stop button for 2 seconds) to change the CD and after changing the disc when I press play again it will play from where the lens is located rather than from the beginging of track 1. It happens inconsistantly so I dont know what to make if it.
