iRiver iMP/PMP/PMC in one section? Mistake?
Why is this so? Why is the iMP/PMP/PMC in one section? This is odd. The iMP is a CD Player and the PMP and PMC are Video/Music/Image Viewer Hard Drive Player. Is this going to be changed? Does anyone find is weird? Is it because these players are going to be the only things that iRiver makes that plays Video?

I just sold my iMP-550 so I can go and get the H320 when it comes out. I really miss my iMP-550. I think I will buy it back once I get some more money.

I'd be lying to say i dont miss the old iMP-250 and the mucho-tortured iMP & SP 250 units i used for work as transportable portable mp3 sources.
Even though the D-NE1 became way too attractive, the sending of the new SS 2.0 software in advance from Sony swung it for me.. as ATRAC CD makeup was a pain in the wotsits with the old software. But it's hard to forget how bombproof and totally indifferent to media was the older iMP series - lets face, if anyone was gonna kill em.. it was gonna be me :P

am i the only one left who owns and imp 550?? Its still going strong though and i must say that i love it. My next player would probably come next year or so. who knows what technology will bring then.....
if i had to buy an mp3 player now, i would say get a dell dj. 15 gigs for $200. nothing beats that. |

Well I would love to return to the iMP Club soon, but right now I have to try a Hard Drive Player.

HiredGun, i dropped iMP ownership after quite a period of ownership and some of the most memorable and intensive ownership/destruction testing out there.
Whilst the 550 may be technically superior to my old batch of dead/dying.. but mucho workhorse bombproof 250's, the 550 hasn't got anything like as much as a sucess pattern - even 350 & 550 owners who had 250's once tend to somewhat regret chasing technology in the 550. Basically, the 550 is 'hitech' vs the 250.. but an equally bombproof deck to a 250.. never... :P I went with the D-NE1 due to wanting to return to ATRAC .. and the hyper battery life closed the deal for me... no looking back... and no more getting caught up in the BS that surrounds iRiver firmware junk inclusions for me... No obscenely badly encoded mega-codecs, like Ogg.. as ATRAC3 works just as nicely.. and dont kill yer cells... Dell DJ @ 15Gb vs 20 Gb CL JB1 or 3... hmm, no contest.. jb everytime for me - it's got qualities available on non of the competition...
