iFP-390T (256 MB) MESSED UP FIRMWARE!

Hi, I have a 2 year old iRiver mp3 player that has been working fine for me up until about 3 weeks ago. It all started when the mp3 player would freeze up in the middle of a song and then I would have to shut it off. Then I figured out the problem was it wouldn't play certain songs ( maybe the wrong format ?) So I tried deleting these songs using iRiverManager or IMM to get rid of them but I couldn't. So I formatted the player and got rid of everything. After that I tried to upgrade the firmware on it, (it is not a UMS device), and in the middle of the upgrade it locked up. Now IMM won't recognize it most of the time when I plug it in, and when it does it thinks that it has insufficient memory to format or upgrade. Also the worst part is all the display on the mp3 player is in black chunks. There are only a few words that you can read, but the rest is just a mess of black blurrs. The recording mode is messed up and thinks that there isn't any room left and won't work. I think two different versions of firmware are on it, (if that is possible) because sometimes when I turn it on it lists one version, but other times it will display the other version when I turn it on. Please help me. I don't know what to do and I don't want to lose $200 to a mp3 player that I have liked very much for the last 2 years. Any suggestions are appreciated. Is there some way to reset the whole entire thing, even if you have to take it apart? Thanx again
