New 2004 IFP-info

Source: http://www.iriver.com/company/news_v...e=&field=1

Further down reading the IFP-1000 specification, one can read:

FM Tuner: S/N Ratio 60 dB

Above is an improvment over IFP-300 / IHP-100 series - only 50 dB then using FM. So unless its a typo, its more or less certain that all FM-equipped 2004 players also will have this radio with less background noice.

Of course; 18mW x 18mW (50% increase) will come handy in crowded city-areas.

And although IFP-1000 only comes USB 1.1 it will be slighly more effective: Approx 7.2 Mbps compared to 6.4 Mbps with the IFP-300 series. And according to below source USB 2.0 + flashplayer in reality means up to 14.4 Mbps

Nice rubine-red color by the way. Perhaps H-300 comes with that color as well.

I was looking at the korea site today and they posted the specs for the 700 and 800. Seems those units support 2.0 usb. Wonder why the 1000 does not?

My guess is the ifp-1000 is just a beefed up ifp-100 with the camera added....I doubt they changed the FM chip and do think the 60db is just a typeo.

I could be wrong but given the Irubine River track record I doubt it.

On the other hand: given the time passed, its very likely that IRiver is getting better chips for the same, or even lower price. Thats the way reality is in the computer-industry. Heck, the chip-suppliers may even deliberately overprice old dated chips, just to discourage manufactors from continue demanding them. Besides: IFP-100, 300 and 500-players all have updated chips. Thats why IRiver couldnt add OGG to IFP-100 at all. And only OGG + MP3 to IFP-300, and full support; OGG + WMA + ASF + MP3 only to IFP-500.
