iFP 790 and USB 1.1 - help

Hello,
I am thinking about buying an iriver ifp-790 but after reading about the various problems people had I'd like to know if anybody was able to use it with a USB 1.1 port (my OS is Win XP Pro).

Feel free to drop me a line on the subject, it will be hugely appreciated.

Thank you very much,
Polo

I own the IFP-795 player and I use it with my 3 year old motherboard that only have support for USB 1.1. I also have Windows XP Pro installed. No problems - but sure: you only get USB 1.1 speed of course. And a popup-message about "lack of USB 2.0 support (which you just ignore).

About peoples connection-problems: be sure to always click the 'USB_safe_to_remove' icon in windows activity-bar, before you mechanically remove the USB-cable from your player. If you do that you never risk that the Music Manager doesnt connect to your player.

I'm using W2K & USB1.1 and had a problem when I first received my IFP-790. The PC would see it, but wouldn't recognise it. I updated the firmware using a PC with USB 2.0 and it worked perfectly after that. There's a specific mention of a USB fix so it's obviously a known problem. Seems to be luck of the draw, some people have problems, others don't.
