iFP 700 linux

Hey all, have been lurking the forums for a few weeks now as im pretty set on an iriver flash player. Just a quick praise for all the great information available on mistic river. Its so good to know that customers are still the best support option available so hats off to all users and esp mods here.

Im pretty much set on an iFP 700 (1 Gb version) but im running linux only, so im wondering if there is any way of getting the device recognised in linux. Ive got iRiver model numbers flowing out every one of my orifices and cant keep track of firmware updates / revisions. I know there is a post in here about lack of 700 UMS, does this mean linux support is DEFINATELY out atm?

If not, i may have to go for a 395T (but i want a 700 so bad ) and was just wondering does the 395T have a clock? Not _TOO_ bothered bout the alarm, but it is a cool feature of the 700, and the batt life of the 700 is a lot better, so this would be a last resort.

Also, does anyone know, other than Iriver themselves, where I could get an iFP 700 series? Online or brick and mortar, it doesnt matter.

Cheers in advance,
mat

well now i feel stupid.

Okay, heres an answer to my own question, just in case anyone out there uses linux and wants 700 / 800 series. Sorry if this has been convered already.

http://ifp-driver.sourceforge.net/

the latest release provides support for moving files to the drive, i guess. Its not official iriver release tho, but its a step forward.

Still, if anyone knows where I can get my hands on a 799, id be muchos appreciative.

Cheers,
mat
