iFP-799T Upgrade then goes crazy

Hi everyone, I was using my 799T about 6 mounths ago with , but the past monday I've found a new version firmware UMS 1.95, with the USB flash drive capability. I upgrade my firmware and when the whole process was done, the player was formating the memory and then reboot itself.

But now when I turn it on the player shows me " UMS 1.95 Scan music file..." over and over and i can't do anything with it. I can't connect it to PC to downgrade it or even to format the internal drive and the only way to turn it off is pulling the battery away.

Someone knows how to fix this? maybe any combination of buttons to format the drive???

Thanks for read this.

And sorry about my english.

Similar situation here. What I did was...

When it was going crazy, connected it to the computer. It calmed down and showed up as a removable drive. Copy into the root directory the Manager version of the hex file available from the iriver web site (the file you download has no extension, it is a zip file, add the zip extension to unzip to get the hex file). As long as my player had no 'MUSIC' folder, when I removed the player from the computer it would boot normally. Find the Upgrade Firmware option in the settings, and upgrade. It will find the hex file in the root directory.

Now, how to get a usable version of the UMS firmware? I'll try that later, don't know right now.

Steve

Edit: As long as there are no music tracks on the player it rebooted fine. Guess there was nothing for the player to look at. (had the same problem again after the player was not properly removed from the computer when the computer was shut down)

Installed version 1.95 using the Manager to find the hex file on the computer. Works fine, but I won't try to create a folder named "MUSIC", I just drag folders over of the music into the root directory.

got UMS version 1.95 from the redone (crappy) iriver site.
