iFP895 messed up reformatted / firmware upgrade

eeek I reay seem to have messed up my iFP895.

Mostly Ive used it with linux and the ifpline package which has worked OK the past two years, but then, maybe because battery failed or something, it stopped mid way through transfer but player didn't seem to want to recover, it just says "scan music file", turns off and turns on with same message and so on.

I was a little impulsive then and decided to reformat and update firmware, ifpline seems to now how to do it. After reformat it couldn't pull much info from the payer anymore.

Ooops! SO I go into windows but I don't have the music manager SW anymore, so I try downloading it, but all I get is the korean version. However I try that and click all the buttons while the player and no connection is made with it.

It really looks as if I have fried it. However, I didn't think they fried that easily. Isn't there some sort of reset button so I can bring it back to some primitive state?

Has anybody any advice for me? Serves me right for starting to think that it was out of date, and for buying a iPOD shuffle. May be I don't deserve any advice ....

solved

I have no idea why I'm once again writing in this thread, nobody has ever replied or offered any help. However, there have been a good number of views, so I'd better mention that this problem has been solved and that my iFP-899 is once again operational.

The main problem was, in fact, lack of patience and (I suppose) lack of faith.

The truth is, iFP's are, in fact, fairly robust creatures. What I really didn't do properly before was allow Windows update time to find a driver for the iFP once it got connected. I kind of skipped that bit, mainly because I mistrust WIndows alot, especially when it tries to find updates on stuff. This time it actually came out finding something (not too sure if it found it on my current windows installation or out on the net).

Then I downloaded the english version of music manager 3.16 from the american site, and I got rid of the Korean version. However, that wasn't a necessary ste because with the proper iFO driver installed the Musi Manger automatically connects, and this is what happened.

So, my iFP was not dead after it all.

So there.

Hey Stabu, just wanted to give you some love. I know you didn't get much help on this particular thread, but I just thought you would like to know that after weeks of trying to get this ifp-899 to work( i bought it on ebay, no disk included) yours was the thread that finally sent me to the right software(iriver music manager). I had no idea that existed. All I had found was Iriver plus 3, which didn't work. So thanks.
