Question iFP-899: Right direction of stick has become erratic

iFP-899 (Manager firmware: US v1.65)

have not had a problem with this player since i bought it (can't even remember when i got it, it's been so long) and now the right direction of the stick has become slightly erratic...

when playing a track, pressing right usually skips to the next track, but sometimes it does the equivalent of pressing "A-B" and sometimes the equivalent of pressing "mode" so after a few skips i end up going back a few tracks thanks to the A-B thing from a previously played track... (i'm definitely not pressing the respective buttons, and not even pressure is being applied near them)

has anyone come across this? i just tried reflashing the firmware incase somehow it got corrupted, but this hasn't solved the problem...

i'm quite annoyed and upset about this because i really like the player for the sound quality and battery life... the erratic behaviour is really really annoying and almost makes me not want to listen to it anymore
