I have an ifp 890

I bought an 890 as soon as they came out and am very pleased with it. The sound is very good and I like the FM radio function. It also records from the radio and does audio recording also. There is nothing bad I can say about the hardware. I found the software a little difficult to get used to but nothing i haven't managed.

There are cheaper players around, but if you want womething that sounds good, has lots of functions and is reliable, you won't go far wrong with the 890 - my only regret is that I didn't go for the 512 instead of the 256.

Sounded ok to me.., the supposedly faulty iFP-8xx that came to me to check over...

It had an alleged 'white noise' issue, that turned out to be more caused by the extremes of the dreaded EX71's the owner was using - sounded fine amongst my collection of phones (MDR-818's, EH-2200's, KTX Pro and RP-F290, MX200's).

What 'white noise' (a hiss actually, rather than FM style white noise.. which is very intrusive if it happens) seems to be noticed in combo with phones with a big emphasis on hi-frequency response.

Use phones with good, even, response and it shouldn't be noticeable if at all.

Where is here? I can't find anyone who has these units for sale and the North American site reveals no retailers who are stocking this series.

Personally, I think the iFP-7xx series is more attractive, but that's just my opinion. Are there even any differences ?

Hm, maybe I should more closely compare the features.

Anyhow, the retailers listed for the 7xx are all Canadian. USA would be preferable, tho' I guess they'll ship across the border without issue.

EDIT: I didn't notice any differences after a cursory glance. I guess I was blinded by the numbering system.
