recognition problem with ifp 795 + mac

Hi,
I got an ifp 795 as a gift and loved it. But their music manager was pretty bad so I reformatted the player and upgraded the firmware so it would work as a usb storage device. And then I just used windows explorer.

Now I switched over to mac osx. When I plug in the player it gets recognized but when I try to move files there it makes a huge mess. Creating extra itunes files and the files that show up on the computer but not within the player later. Even though the space is taken. So I tried to use Iriver Music Manager but it wouldn't recognize the player at all. Finally I realized that's because I upgraded that firmware long ago. Is there a way to switch back? So the music manager would recognize the player? Is there a way to make iriver compatible with itunes?

Right now everything is a huge mess and nothing is working.
