I have an ifp-799 for a little over a year. The power on button does not work. (I can sometimes get it to power on after fiddling with it for a few minutes. I then set the alarm to turn it on at 7:30 every day, and put it on the record screen so it won't power off automatically.)
Iriver won't repair it if it is out of warranty. Does anyone know of a reliable repair center that can fix it?. On another topic, I found great 3rd party microphones that I use for recording. If interested, I'll send the link. Thank you. viddavisda |

If your unit is under warranty, iriver will fix it. It is about a 3 week turnaround time. If you bought a refurbished unit, it is 90 days, new items are warrantied 1 year. If your covered, send it in because...
Iriver has a policy of not repairing items unles they are under warranty. I got lucky, my ifp 799 was just covered and they fixed it, no problem. However, when it goes--- its gone. Here was my workaround for the power on button problem. I would turn off by removing the battery. Before turning off, I set the alarm to a few minutes past the current time. After the alarm time passes, whenever you put the battery back in the unit will power on. Also, I got in the habit of leaving the unit on the screen for line in or microphone recording as it does not automatically shut off when not playing in that mode. Otherwise, it would still be useful to know of a third party that will repair them. I love the way this unit records and its size. Good luck! |
