Hardware Installation / USB Recognition (880)

I recently bought an iFP-880T and installed iRiver Music Manager but then upon connecting the player, Windows did NOT find any "New Hardware", like the manual claims it would. I followed the steps recommended by the online bot to go through Device Manager, yet the player would still not appear under "Other", "Unknown", or even "Universal Serial Bus Drivers" even when following the instructions correctly.

They provided no other alternative to install the necessary hardware so the Music Manager will recognize the player.

I also tried adding the hardware through the "Add Hardware" function and then searching for already "connected" hardware, yet nothing iRiver related still shows up.

I tried uninstalling iRiver software and reinstalling everything, but still had the same lack of hardware recognition.

I e-mailed and called iRiver support but I've already been waiting a few days for a response and if I can't get this to work I'd have to return it.

Can anyone help me out with this problem?

Thank you.

As I am understanding it, your computer doesn't even recognize that the iFP is connected?....... in that case, you have either (1) a faulty USB cable, or (2) a bugged USB port. One of the two needs fixing.

Also, is your player turned 'ON' before you plug it in? I assume it is, which it needs to be.

If your computer recognizes it, but it just needs the drivers...... Try THIS PAGE. It has the drivers from iRiver.
