problem with IFP-799 "skipping" on MP3's

Anyone had a similar issue or have any suggestions?

Just today a problem has developed on my IFP-799. When I play MP3 songs that I've had in the player for quite a while (with no problem before), now sometimes the player seems to "skip". Roughly every 1 or 2 seconds, it makes a click or popping sound and skips, repeatedly. When I turn the unit off and back on, the problem usually goes away, but sometimes comes back. When I use the radio, no problem, just during playback. The battery is new / full, not the issue. For the last hour I've been testing it, and no problem. ????

I actually have the same problem on my iFP-790. This never happened until I upgraded my default firmware to UMS v1.85. I suspect that it's a problem with the firmware since I never damaged it physically.

This is repeatable about 20% of the time I turn it on and play an mp3 file. Anyone else have similar problems?

Jay

For anyone who is searching with the same problem I think I'll reply.

This is a bug that happens when you play VBR mp3 with the default EQ (normal). If you want to play VBR mp3s without EQ setting just use the custom EQ and let all the levels remain at 0.
