Recovering deleted REC files?

By accident I deleted most of my rec files of my band. Is there any way to recover them?

Secondly, can anyone tell me what the best setting are to get a good recording. Like recording volumes, kps and all that other technical stuff.
My recordings sound great in the player, but once transferred, not so great.
