Unable to connect to iFP-999 (fw: 1.85 UMS)

Hey all,

I loaded my iFP-999 with the firmware 1.85 (which is an UMS firmware) from iriver.com. It's been working alright until last week. I plug it in to the cable, and it doesn't get recognised. Tried other cables as well but to no avail. Tried another machine too, where it gets recognised as unknown device. Nor Linux or FreeBSD either report anything on the device when I plug it in.

I tried formatting it, loading defaults on it, but no results. Is there some master "reset" to revert it to the originally branded firmware? Resetting the device using the reset button looks to me as a restart button.

What else can I do? I'm trying to drain it's battery as we speak.

Wouter
