fast forward question [ifp 899]

I've been happy with my ifp 899, but something I noticed when I had my player and lately with some changes. Mine came with the the firmware 1.25, but I don't know if that will make a difference.

When I would select right/left when playing a song, instead of skipping to the next track it would skip every 3minutes, which for long tracks I found very convienent, it would also skip 3minutes back also. But it hasn't been doing that lately. I listen to dj mixes and having that working was something I liked, but one day it just stopped doing it and instead it skips to the next track instead.

My sister has an 895 and hers does the same thing with skipping the track, I know holding down is fast forward, but when I had the 3minute for one click to the right it was something I liked, but I have gotten used to not having it.

Just wondering, if there is a way to put that feature back on? I think I might have messed with the settings, but not sure where.

I don't have one of these but this may be a firmware issue. I suggest to go on the iRIver site and read up about the firmware you have. What the site does is explain what enhancements or bug fixes each one has. Also, see wat more posters will say about this.

I think what you're referring to is "study mode". In this mode pressing "forward" or "back" skips forwards/backwards by the time that you have set instead of skipping tracks. Study mode is in the menus under "mode", it's the second last option. Try that...
