some restrictions after UMS upgrade

HI everyone. I previously owned ipf-380. Now I bought IFP-895. Gread quality, as always. Since I use it as flash-drive - i need UMS version. After upgrading to ums - it how has some restrictions, like maximum recording bitrate is stereo/44khz/96kbps, while before i could record at 320kbps. Some other restricitions as well.
1) Is there anything i can do to get back high bitrate recording?
2) -||- to be able to play ogg lower than 96kbps?
3) -||- maybe thre is some way to remove wma support, and thus give more resources for other features like lower ogg bitrate?

Yes those are the restrictions when using UMS firmware
You can get OGG support down to 64k by using sonycman's hacked firmware (do a search to find it). That firmware also lets you set recording bitrates up to 320k, as per the IMM firmware BUT in my experience you will not be able to use more than 112k or maybe 128k, otherwise you will get skipping in the recording.

Maybe a compromise might work.

Provided you can tolerate the UMS restrictions most of the time - if you carry a copy of the IMM firmware on your player, in an "emergency" you can switch back. Your files will also get erased, but that gives you the maximum space to record.
