Using internal Mic for other things
ok, so my brother has an IFP-899 and we were wondering if you could use the internal microphone as a source for internet chat? Look at this thread if you don't understand...Using the Microphone for Different Things
He would like to be able to use it like this.

If the IFP player has the same 'voice monitering' feature (where you can listen without actually recording) and the other stuff which is used on the H300 then I'm sure you could.
I didn't read the other thread in great depth but if you just read that thread and asked at every step "can the IFP do that?". If you answer yes to all then it should be fine. I don't know anything about those players though so don't ask me how.

I hate to say it, but for the IFP-899, I need to be mroe spoon fed than that
 .I know how to turn it on to "voice", but after that I don't know if it has the "voice detect" function that the H3xx has. Could someone tell me if it is possible to wire your IFP-899 so that you can talk through the internal mic like it was an internet microphone so that you could hear it through speakers, live? As posted before, this is the solution/better description for an H3xx, is it like this? http://www.misticriver.net/showthread.php?t=323 24

Has the manual. I couldn't see anything which mentioned it but try that. Also have a look in the options - is there a voice moniter option?

ya, I have the manual, it doesn't specifically say.
Does anybody know if the IFP-800 series players can do the voice monitor?

ok, thanks (forgot to check this) I'll tell my brother that he would need an external mic to do it, at which point he wouldn't bother running it through his 899
