New UMS firmware for iFP-900

I was excited to see this week that iRiver finally released updates to the iFP-900 series firmware, for both manager and UMS versions. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find out all the bugfixes incorporated into these updates were trivial glitches that I never noticed anyway. The 96kbps recording limit is still there. I suppose it's good to see they're still actively supporting this product.

I suppose the 96kbps line-in limitation would apply to the new FW for the IFP-799 as well. This is what I'm keeping an eye out for. Until then, I don't plan to change from the original FW that came with the unit. I assumed I could do this update (to UMS) before I bought the unit recently. Wished I had noticed the 96kbps limitation before I bought it. Line-in recording is the main reason I bought this unit over the new T10 (and I also wanted FM radio, thus the other new T series was't a good fit either). For now, live with the non-UMS FW.

I'm an owner of an IFP 995 and was awaiting improved firmware.
Unfortunately my complaint (which I informed iriver about) was not included in the improvements. When recording an FM station the recording contains distortions (purring sound). When recording is stopped the reception is clear as it was before pressing the recording button. As I never noticed problems of the kind iriver says they cured I will stick to he original firmware. Has anyone encountered the same problem recording FM broadcasts? If so, please inform iriver. They might repair it in the next upgrade (if we may live to get it in the future).
