Volume problem

Hi, I purchased a iFP 795 (512 MB) a month back. From day one I am facing the following problem. Volume (output) is not getting increased after 24 though the player shows the increase in voulme number upto 40. Due to this the quality of the sound is also not so good and I am not able to get the bass effect which I use to get in my another iFP (128 MB) player which I bought a year back. Is it an existing problem with recent models? Can someone pls adv a way to fix it?

Which firmware do you use?
There is an firmware issue for the European market reducing the maximum headphone volume (since version 1.30, I think...)

Hi Wrench,
Sorry! right now I don't have the player with me. I forgot to carry it today. I will check and confirm the firmware version by tomorrow. But I guess it is 1.25 or 1.28. Also I remember seeing something like 'iFP 795T/EU'. Does this EU refer to 'European Union'. I this case could you pls adv which version of the firmware should I load into my iFP 795 to fix this problem.

You can see the (complete) FW version during power off the device.
And yes, EU stands for the European version.
Personally, though living in Germany, I use the 1.29/Japan version for my iFP-899 (no joke! the menu is still in english), which gives me a wider range for the radio tuning (76-108 MHz)
With this version, I have absolutely no volume problems...
Maybe you give it a try.

Hi Wrench,
Version is 1.244. I could see this when I switch it on and when I switch it off it shows IFP-795T/EU. Will this 1.29/Japan version will suit my iFP-795 as you have loaded it for iFP-800 series. Thanks for your adv I will give a try.

As far as I know, iFP-7xx and iFP-8xx series are using the same electronic hardware, thus the firmware should be ok for you.

Hi... i'm new in this forum....
I have Iriver-799 version EU.

Let me understand it again:
You managed to install NON-EU firmware on your EU version player and it's working all fine ?!?!?!?!

I'm want to install the 1.85 UMS in english, but without any restrictions to the volume!!!

which language version of 1.85 UMS can i install?
And is there someone there with ifp-799 EU version whom installed any other firmware language version exept EU on his EU version player ?!
Thnx in advance...!

b.t.w
1. sorry for the grammer mistakes..
2. i know i wrote the same thing 2-3 times... but that just becouse i really want to be sure that every thing is working befor installing non-EU version on my player. and if it does works - i'm the happiest ifp-799 EU consumer ever!
T-H-N-X!!!!!

Replay to myself...

Well.... i think i can answer myself.
You can try and install the JP version, it solves the volume restrictions problem. oh, and don't belive your local distributor that installing any version other then the EU ( On EU purchased players ) harm/burn the player.
Cuz there isn't a HardWare different between EU/US/JP/CN 7xx/8xx players!!!
The differents are only in the FIRMWARE -> SOFTWARE:
1. language support ( odd... but in the JP and EU version, all the language support the same )
2. Law restriction: In the EU version , french law restrict the volume, FM width etc..
3. although it's not a software change, the retial bundle may different items...

That's all!!!

I hope it's a question...
if it does, the answer is: You can install the US UMS version without any volume restriction.
Note:The volume restriction problem is ONLY in the EU ( Europe ) version type: UMS or "Iriver Music Manager" - they both have the volume restriction in EU version.
