Once again a FILE CHECK ERROR message.

I posted a thread about some problems with my iFP, and since no one answered it I tried to do something about it (not that I didn't try to fix it earlier).

Anyways I went to a friend of mine, and upgraded the firmware there, then came back home. It still didn't work with my comp, so I went back to my friend's place. I tried to upgrade it to UMS but everytime I uploaded the UMS .HEX file in the player, it just disappeared and I couldn't upgrade it, other files could be transferred there without problems.

Then I upgraded it to another IMM firmware, it didn't help.

Then I decided to try the factory firmware. So I downloaded the iFP-790/795/799 Factory Firmware 1.20. I installed it.
Then when the player rebooted it said iFP-720T v. 1.21. Well I saw something was wrong, I tried to install the 1.30 firmware again, and it did nothing. Then I tried to format the player, it just said "could not format player".

Now when I turn the player on it says "formatting" and after that it says "FILE CHECK ERROR".
When I plug it to my comp, the manager program finds it, says that it's an iFP-720T with 0MBs of capacity (it has no files or folders inside). I can't format it with the program either, or upgrade the firmware because it has 0MBs of capacity.

I would've e-mailed iRiver about this but I've read that their customer support sucks, and I can't phone them because I live in Finland.

So, is there anything I can do? Or should I just smash it to pieces and buy a new one?

Are you sure you downloaded the right firmware? I don't see how it can say 720 if it's not a 720 (is there even such a player?). The latest IMM firmware is 1.29 AFAIK...try finding that and upgrading.

I downloaded this firmware:

http://www.iriver.at/download_detail...2=&rn=8&order=

And I cannot upgrade it because the manager program says that the capacity of the player is 0 MB.

Do I own a 170 euro portable radio? Or is there something I can do?

PS. the latest EU firmware for it is 1.30. I had it installed earlier.
