Best Buy Product Replacement

So...

Let's say I hypothetically broke my screen on my ifp-899 and I had the product replacement plan. Would I be able to take it back, exchange it for a T10 and make up up the difference (~$20) ???

I'm really fed up with the inability to play DRM music on the ifp-899 and I think the screen has a large possibility of becoming cracked...

Lets say that hypothetically you were going to engage in fraud

You'd probably be able to get away with it. Assuming of course that no Best Buy employees read this site

The 899 plays DRM music. In fact the process for getting DRM files on it is exactly the same as with the T10. See here

EDIT: unless you're talking about subscription-based services, in which case you do need one of the T series.

Be careful that the store does not decide the cracked screen is a result of user abuse rather than a product defect, thus denying your claim. Cross your fingers that a super powerful magnet comes in contact with the 899 and a permanently messes it up. Or that your wife accidently screws up a firmware install by not following the instructions.

Sure, you could. Of course, you could also be charged with fraud.

Why would you want to be shady about the whole thing? Just put it back in its original packaging and bring it back for store credit.
