Carbonlib problem on iFP

i just bought the ifp 799. i have a mac g4...using osx 10.1.5. (other info...i'm using firefox as the browser, i don't think i have winamp or wmp...where do i get these???). anyway, i opened the iriver music manager and put it in the dock. when i tried to open it, it said that i needed to upgrade my carbonlib. i downloaded carbonlib 1.6 and i think i installed it. so everytime i try to open iriver music manager now, it says i can't run it on carbonlib 1.4!!! what the heck?! it also says that i should use software update control panel to update to the 1.6 version . i don't understand what is happening. i just want to install this damn software and download/transfer some music!!!

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

check and see what firmware you installed and loaded. There are two versions, one of which is called UMS firmware which if used will disable the iRiver Music Manager and enable removable HDD like software.

Go back to iRiver's site and double check...download the IMM version firmware and install same.
