Then it is dictated by price if jogging is all your after, as both will play flawlessly. Also you will be able to plug into the radio with both so wherever you are located it is a matter of getting the best price and a decent efficient store.

I've got both the IFP-799 and YP-T6Z
so ask any specific questions if you want. I've got personal likes and dislikes for both, and despite a stated intention not to, am keeping both.

How does the recording capability compare on the Samsung? Does it have level meters? Can you change volume/gain on the fly? |

That particular Samsung doesn't have recording. But for jogging/boxing I don't think the OP will be recording the sounds of traffic or someone/punchbag making a thudding sound! Also the Samsung appears to have some issues with quality control and firmware (read some Amazon.co.uk reviews).
Me I'm saving up for this beauty right now having considered a ifp-799/Samsung YP-MT6Z/T-10 in the past: http://www.goaudio.co.uk/viewprod.ph..._id=-1&vt=list Last edited by DukeZed : October 4th, 2005 at 12:11 PM. |

The U2's recording features aren't as great as iFP-8XX. The U2 can only record up to 128kbps MP3. The tradeoff is the U2 is UMS, so you don't need to install any software or drivers to use it. The U2 is also much smaller than the iFP and comes in capacities up to 2gb rather than 1gb. I'm speaking from experience because I own both.

I found another source that says the U2 shows record level meters, although it only adjusts gain on a 1-10 scale. That makes it sound like, for recording, you're choosing visible meters (iAudio) vs. higher bitrate (iRiver). Anything I'm missing?
