Brand new iFP-890, screen flickers.

I put a battery in this thing and turned it on. When I connected it to the PC the screen went black (not blank), like really dark resolution. I turned it on and off and noticed that the screen in flickering. I changed the battery and upgraded the firmware. I did not see it for a while but then all of a sudden it did it. Basically, the back light flicks on and off, the screen goes blank, comes back on, light flickers, and then it all goes back to normal. I know there was a post in here with the same problem when there is bright light, I am sitting under a halogen lamp but cannot make it flicker by putting it up close. Anyone have any ideas. Does this happen with this device, or should I exchange it?

Thanks

I solved my own problemd

OK, there is a problem caused by the bright light. When I turned the player on this AM under my desk lamp it went black so I moved away from the light and it went back to normal. Also, when I was close to the light it flickered a bit. I think it is a function of the LCD that is inherent in the screen and not a malfunction. Until I hear otherwise I am going with that theory.

I have a very strange problem. When I use my IFP-795 in bright light the screen blanks out. It goes black as if the contrast were maxed out. I thought it was the usual problem that LCD displays can't be seen under bright light. But I can actually get the screen to flicker by keeping maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of the screen in a shadow created by holding my coat above the screen. If I get it just right, the screen flickers. When it flickers on, I CAN even see part of the screen that is under the bright light. When it flickers off, I CAN'T even see the part of the screen that is in the shadow.

It seems like the screen is light sensitive and cuts off/on depending on the amount of light. This has nothing to do with the backlight or contrast level because it happens no matter how I have them set.
