IFP-7XXX - Deleting files but player shows no free space!
Using an IFP-799, a new problem has recently appeared. UMS Firmware so I tranfer music files directly.
However, when I delete music from the IFP, no space is cleared so now I have no music on it but it reads FULL. In order to make space - I have to format and start again. Is there a hidden area on it where deleted files stay? Anyone else had this problem? An update .... I found all the files I deleted still on the IFP but in some other folders. These folders don't show up on the computer, so I THINK that the IFP is empty, when it is actually full of hidden files - Could this be some kind of recycle bin? Can I get rid of it? Anyone know? No - there is no option up there to show hidden files. For some reason, the IFP has started to put everything into a Recycle folder which it creates itself as a hidden file! I'm not sure how I set it off. I filled the player up until it reported that there was no room left. That's all I can think of that may have upset it!! Update ..... Astec, you're a gem. Thanks. The h300 section may have answered it for me. I followed the instructions and so now, I'll watch deleting with bated breath! That was it. Thanks Astec. I did a search but your link to h300 didn't come up because I searched on 700 series forum. Oh well. Lesson learned - next time - GLOBAL search. At least it'll now be within 700 series too because it is almost invisible on the computer so it is extremely puzzling. Once again - many thanks. When your player is connected, right click on recycle bin and click on properties, then, check the box saying configure drives independantly. Next, click on the tab that shows your player and tell it to not use the recycle bin.
