Equilizer not effective in Tuner mode

Hi ,
I have noticed that the equilizer in my iriver 799 is not effective in TUNER mode . Is this true for this series .....
I also have iFP 180T , I can tweak is bass & trebbile in any mode ....
I dont understand this difference in a higher version of the player ...

can any one comment .....
