MP3 player for the wife?

Hi guys

I've been browsing around for an MP3 player for my wife (I have the iRiver H340 and couldn't be happier) and came across the iRiver iFP-899 on the internet. I've had a quick scan through this forum but haven't really found what I was looking for. I'm hoping that you can help me with a couple of questions...

Are there any major problems/bugs with the iFP-899?
Is the battery one of those internal rechargeable types?
Does the player support OGG at all bitrates? Most of my files are ripped at 192kps I think.

Any replied will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone

T

if I were you i would look into the smaller newer flash players. I heard the samsung has bad battery life so i would go with an iaudio or something like that. I own a ifp 899 and an iRiver H10 and both are great but there are better flash players out now.

If it's for the missus I would get on ebay and pick up any ifp player. If you are prepared to be patient then you will pick something up for 30% less than retail.

Just don't be tempted by the cheap chinese players, the quality is crap.

wow man. Your pretty harsh there. My parents are 54 and they are still married. What about all those old people who are holding hands at age 90?

That is a tad harsh. Not exactly in keeping with MRiver standards.

OUCH! That is just not right. You know nothing about his relationship to his wife, so that statement is unfounded.

Just because a large percentage of couples get divorced does not mean he will. A majority is still not all.

I personally would be really pissed if I was married to a woman I really loved and someone said "you're just gonna get divorced at some point anyway." That may just be me but I don't think I'm alone in my thinking here.

There is also the fact that doing things like buying the wife an mp3 player when she really wants one will improve your odds of staying married.

I mean i was watching the daytona 500 last weekend (i hate nascar)...and these hick racecar drivers all have really hot wives...i mean give me a break...its the money. Sorry if I was a little harsh, but I am a realist.

That's true there are many golddiggin broads out there but you gotta try on alot of shoes before you find one that fits. I was like u bein a pimp not given a damn (i kinda still am) but I found my girl and she changed me 4 the better. But my friends can testify that u can't be changed unless u want 2.

Dude, you MUST be an Opie and Anthony fan... In any case, I disagree with you to an extent. I live on the East side (20's) and so I know what you're saying. I've said what you did before. There's no doubt that this behavior exists, but it's pretty much synonymous with the lifestyle here in the city. Don't be a hippocrite man. Both men and women here want what they want with no strings attached, and we often get what we ask for.

Men here usually flaunt their cash, and zingy cars in order to get the casual woman to hop into his bed. What do you expect from that ? On the other hand, it depends on where you meet the person. I've had some genuinely honest and incredible relationships with some really beautiful and nice women here, who were honestly looking for companionship and not a pocket full of cash. '

I think it's your fault that you may be attracting that sort of woman man, because you're not ready for anything more serious than the casual fling. You can't generalize like you did. One of my best friends, who is a couple years younger than I am, who happens to be a now struggling artist (because he moved to Atlanta for some stupid reason), married a really sweet girl who is way younger than he is (10 years?) and they've been together for about 4 years now, and it's like they just got together. They have a child, and still look at each other as if it was their first date.

You shouldn't be so cynical man, it's a waste of time. As I said, I've shared your sentiment, and if you look around NYC, it's very true that the gold diggers are in full effect on every corner. But one day, you're going to wake up with a totally different outlook, and that gold digger might just turn into your soul mate. Remember, people in general react to what they see around them. Treat someone like dirt, and they'll get you messy in the process. Look at someone with sincere trust and care, and that dirt just may reveal a seed that grows into a beautiful flower. It's all in how you look at it man...

OK, I'm confused. Which players are better than say the ifp899 and why?

I ask because I am looking to buy a new flash player, and I did a bit of searching this week, but didnt find any that stood out as much better feature-wise. 40 hours battery life especially seems to be ifp's strong point, against the tradeoff of being slightly bigger due to AA batery, in comparison to some competitors with internal lithium.

Cheers,
Dutchie.
