Remotes galore

I was having a quick look around the iRiverAmerica store and came across their 'close-out' section (sadly, it seems you cannot link directly to the section of the store in question, so to get there you click on 'iRiver Outlet' then 'Closeout Specials').

Within it are a series of LCD remotes for sale at reduced prices. Sadly, this does not include the H300 series remote but it does the iHp-100 series remote, for $22.
Rather more interestingly, the SlimX 550 remote, $10 is also available - the same as the iHp-100 remote but sold under a different name.
Obviously, either of these should work for the H300 series too (albeit with the risk of clicking), so it seems like there's some bargains to be had.

There's also LCD remotes for the SlimX 350 and 400 CD players but I have no idea whether either of them would work with any of the iRiver HDD players.

Does anyone know if they supply those ~4" headphone extension cables with the new accessory Hx0 and SlimX 550 remotes? I'm worried that mine will go bad and all my headphones require that extension cable (that was a design flaw, IMO).

iRiver's Hong Kong site has the iMP-900 remote -- which is identical to the H300 remote! I bought one from them for HK$320, or about US$41. (I picked it up in person while visiting HK.) A ridiculous luxury for me this late in my H320's life, but I love the look of the thing. What's even more ridiculous is that last year I bought TWO of the Slim 550 remotes here in Beijing!

They also had H300 cradles, the external battery pack, and the two-piece leather cases (a bit nicer than the stock windowed cases supplied in the U.S., but I would just go for a latex skin instead). To find them, though, you might need to navigate using the text links at the bottom of the page.

Unfortunately, their HK website is all in Chinese, but if you contact them I'm sure they should be able to help you in English. I never asked them if they shipped internationally, though.

They are available seperately at AdvancedMP3Players.c o.uk (who are based in the UK but will ship to the US). I'm sure you can get them from US distributors too.

I honestly think the h300 LCD remote is one of the finest looking DAP remotes that was ever assembled. I don't use it much lately but oh, what a joy to own one.
