80GB drives on eBay: $195.

FYI

Someone on Ebay has a few of these Toshiba MK8007GAH drives for $195 Buy It Now priced. I might get one. Says they are unused inventory or something.

These are 'apple' drives, I'm not 100% sure but I think I read somewhere that these won't work with iriver H1xx or H3xx. If thats why you were going to buy them.

If their 8007's then they can't be 'Apple drives' as Apple have switched to ZIF connectors for their 80GB iPod.
The seller may be describing them as Apple drives to attract customers I suppose.

And, for the record, a HDD being Apple-branded doesn't automatically mean it won't work in the iHP-100s or H300s but it does drastically increase the likelihood of problems.

Yep, no apple brand, so I guess they should be ok, but you have to love them saying apple drives in the ad. Our local gadget guide was full of pod accessories for mothers day.

OT. Step 6 off 7000, no spamming now!

I can't see why an MK8007GAH wouldn't work so if you're wanting a space upgrade I'd go for it. Very tempting with that price.

You can stop waiting

@DT: you're right, they should be fine.
If they had been 'Apple drives', then there might have been a problem but Apple don't use MK8007GAH's, so there shouldn't be any issues.

If I used my H340 much, I might be tempted but I just can't help but think it's be a waste of money on my part...

It WILL work, as it's the exact same model as I'm currently enjoying the hell out of. Although mine didn't have a blue dot on it....maybe it's not Hindu (ohhh, shoot me now).

Do it, it's definitely worth it. I am enjoying the mucho extra space and choice on offer.
