new 80gb hd. would this one work ??

Toshiba MK8009GAH 1.8-inch CE PMR HDD 80.0 GB ZIF Interface 80.0 Gigabytes* Lightweight, only 59 grams Low Power Consumption 15ms Average Seek Time 100MB/s Ultra DMA Transfer Rate Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) connector.

Im wondering if this new drive would work..

Anyone knows about ZIF interface ?? is it a different type of connection to ur device ?? what would prob rule out this working with the iRivers.

This has been covered before. The search feature is your friend.

ZIF connectors will not work in H100 or H300 series iriver players. You need to use a HDD with an IDE connector.

a ZIF drive will probably work if you get a ZIF to IDE adapter and mod the rubber thing so that the converter fits.

Is that the right converter and if so might it fit in an H140 for example?

You are not going to have any room for that in your player.

Better to get an IDE one, as you're already squeezed for space. I've taken my player apart thinking I'll get a battery, but none available here yet I was also thinking of changing HDDs but I thought "meh, what the heck they don't even have the battery"

This thread talks about ZIP drives and H300 and how it might be possible. Maybe you can be the first to try it...
