stupid question, but:

the playlist singles out files that have >52 characters. I chose to include these in my playlist. Now, will my H340 actually play these files with overlong file names or will my player avoid them?

Have just ditched Rockbox so am back using this again. Had forgotton just how easy it was to use and have now got some great playlists set up.

I just wish there was some way of adapting it so you can create playlists on the player without the need for a PC, but as I am not clever enough to be able to do something like this myself I am not going to complain. I think it's good that it is stored within the player and you just connect it up to any PC to create the playlist.

It will avoid them. For more information, check out post #249 in this thread - you'll get a better explanation that I can give and you can start there to track down some solutions.

Thanks Coop. Isn't it ironic that the solution to my problem, Godfather, has been in my signature the whole time. Just never knew that it could batch truncate/rename files . Was pretty easy to figure out. Thanks again.

It´s rather embarassing, but I have to admit that I simply can´t get this thing going.
I installed .NET framework, put 1.3 onto my 320, dropped some playlists onto it, saved them to my 320, pushed A-B, selected a playlist & got "error" all the time.
Wtf am I doing wrong
Help is greatly appreciated

Hi Chilbi -

Best I can do is suggest you check out Cyberguest's help page and see if you can get some help there. There's an FAQ that addresses the "read error" message. If that doesn't help, post again and maybe someone else will have a better idea.

http://www.cyberguest.net/playlist/help.php

Good luck,
Coop

I've learned a lot thanks to people posting questions I was too embarrassed to ask myself.

Glad it worked out for you!

What do you mean by it won't let you? Do you get an error message and if so, what does it say?

Hello,

Another "newbie" here that can't seem to follow directions. First, thanks for developing this program. I've been loving the H320 for the past 2 yrs. but hated the fact it did not have an "EZ" playlist function.

Here's my problem:
1. I connected the player via the MEDIA port;
2. I right-clicked the DOWNLOAD link;
3. I selected SAVE TARGET TO...;
4. Player is NOT listed as one of the drives;

Strange enough, when I click on MY COMPUTER via the START button, the player does appear as "H300 Series". No drive letter is noted.

What I'm I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Folks,

Never mind...I needed to be connected to DATA and not MEDIA for the download.

[I have raised this issue on another playlist thread without any response.]

I have produced a sample playlist file (with iRiver Playlist Editor 1.3) and can locate it and start playing it (now that I don't hold the A-B button down as instructed by iRiver in its user's manual!). The playlist consists of all files from six albums. However, only the first album appears to play (if I fast forward to the last track, no further playlisted album tracks are listed or played). I get the next folder in the alphabetical list instead. I have rechecked the m3u file and the six albums are all there.

Will someone please tell me what is going wrong? I need to get playlists right because I have added an auxiliary port to my car radio and need to minimise messing around with the H340's screen while on a trip.

It is a pity that iRiver or someone else hasn't come up with a method of simply flagging folders (albums) so that the player just plays the selected folders in a session. The WinAmp type of playlist adds folders as individual songs, which leads to a very long list indeed.

Playlist Editor works ok here, except that it can't see my H10's drive. In the ''Select your iRiver drive' dropdown, there's only my 2 hard disks (c and g) but no H10 (f). Windows Explorer can see it fine. I'm running UMS firmware on my device.

This program works great.

However, when I create a long playlist, my H320 wont play past the 1009th song. After the 1009th song it repeats the playlist.

Any clue as to what's going on?

I would like to create a playlist for about 4000 songs.

Thanks
