.net framework is a layer between the .net programs and windows, it runs on top of windows so that programs created in .net can be run in windows (similar to java runtime).

you shouldn't even notice any changes to your system.

to find out if you have .net framework installed, i guess you can try to run the program, if you get an error: "The application failed to initialize properly ." then you don't have the framework installed.

Go to the control panel. go to Administrative Tools.

If "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Configuration" is in there, you have the .NET Framework.

Oh, and the largest change it makes to the system is the ability to run .NET Programs. It really doesn't do anything else. (Just get it. I hate people who whine about it.)

Sounds great, I've been to lazy to sort out Winamp, and since I'm travelling this seems like the perfect solution to me! Will download asap! Thanks again!

when i upgraded to .net it made one (slightly irritating, because i can't find a way to get rid of it) change
my windows xp machine now presents the welcome screen (where you have to click on your name to continue starting up the machine) instead of just starting up as usual

great work!!! pretty useful app. Works faster than winamp and it can easily be lugged with the player.
You just gave me a good reason to reorganize all my tags and filenames!!! great..

One thing that I would love to see implemented in a future version would be the possibility to move files/songs within the playlist. Drag a song to another part of the list. 'Part from that all is good!

I hope so. Will try this out as soon as I knock off work today. Was wondering though.....If I use file tree method then will the 52 character limit still apply?

P.S. Thanks for making and sharing this. I've been a bit too bogged down to get around to using winamp and am looking forward to trying this out as by all appearances it looks easier to use.

so... lemme get this straigt.. this pogram allows me to just make playlist on my computer and play back the playlist away from the computer.. right?

you cant make playlist on the iRiver tho right? like normally.. if i wanted a song next.. i would press the A-B button for it to play next.. can i play one song.. then go find anotther song press the A-B button.. then find another song.. press the A-B button and continue over and over.. then i would make a playlist on the iRiver.. can the program do that?

if so .. it would be awesome..

No. The program is for your computer and not for your player. You need a firmware update to be able to create playlists on the player.

From what I read on other posts, iRiver is not capable of reading any songs with file names longer than 52 characters (I've never tried this myself though).

The program was designed with that in mind, if you drop long filenames into the box, the song would not get added to the list, and program notifies that filename is too long.
long filename is defined as: length of filename+extension is longer or equal to 52 characters.

Hi Cyberguest.

The 52 character limit only aplies to database driven H3**'s. When using filetree there is no limit ;o)

Would it be possible for you to remove the limit within your programme or does your code depend on the same character limits as the database?

Thanks
D
