No !
You connect your USB bridge to the DATA port of your H300 with the cable that come with your player. You don't use the HOST or MEDIA port. Also if you have an International version of the player you don't need to do these modifications... It's only for US versions.

I have an US version so that I realy don't know if I have to make those modification if I'm using a USB Bridge? I guess I don't have to... (sorry my english is not perfect so that I did not understant really well your answer...)

I have connected my US H320 (original 1.02 firmware) to a spare USB hub I had lying around (USB 1.1, powered by transformer not batteries) and connected flash card reader to same hub. I get "charging" when first plugged into data port and when i turn it on it says "connected data". When i plug into the media port it says "connected media"
Thats all i get. I presume that if I flash firmware to Korean/international 1.27 I will get USBOTG??? Not sure if I want to flash yet, as USBOTG is not that important to me, just a handy extra I was not counting on when i bought the player. Any comments - thanks, Tony. |

Help guys....
Hey guys,
I've lurking for several months now and you guys are a God send. So I'm sitting here trying to get ready for a trip to Hungary when my fiance says, "Umm should we buy bunch of SD cards for the camera?" Armed with the combined expertise of misticriver, I promptly responded, "Nope. I have a better solution." So 2 days later, after modding a USB mini-B and soldering on a voltage regulator, and a 9v connector. I'm all set. (Same setup as Mike13's. [post#111 on page 6], except I jumped the 4 and 5 pins in the connector) When I plug in the modded cable, H320 say "Pluging in", my camera (Minolta Dimage Xt) says "Initializing USB connection" and then nothing happens. I've checked my output voltage, my continuity. I've tried it with 1 other camera and 2 card readers and still no luck. Am I doing something wrong? Help!!! And thoughts tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Darth |

Guys,
I've seen lots of posts telling what to do and how to make the "external power supply" for the USB On-The-Go to work on the H300 US Version. BUT, I HAVEN'T seen anyone telling WHICH USB PIN should be powered... Do you know WHERE on the USB should I connect the power wires? Actually, I've came up with a slightly different idea than the schema showed so far...the idea is to preserve the integrity of all itens: USB Host Cable, Memory Card Reader and H300, sacrifying only one USB female-to-male connector. here it is: ![]() |

Vdamiani, that looks good to me. the 5+ and GND should be connected to pins 1 and 4 respectively.
My solution was a tad different, in that i bought an SD card reader from ebay for 1cent (shipping from HK was killer, though). i supplied 5 V to the SD Card reader through a 9V battery with a 7805 Voltage regulator in the middle. My problem now, is that once i plug it in (FW is 1.28K), it says "Plug In Please Wait..." and the DEVICE tab never shows up. I'm not sure what I've done wrong. One thing is that i noticed my card's file system was FAT. i reformatted it to FAT32 and I still haven't had any luck. Are there any suggestions? cheers ~zoops |

Did you supply power to the SD card reader ONLY? I've heard people saying BOTH card reader AND iRiver need power, thats why I supplied power in the middle of the thing... Maybe thats what's going on.. BTW, I opened my H300 and did the soldering mod! If you want, check my post: http://www.misticriver.net/boards/sh...762#post306762 cheers

Powered Hub
OK, so if running a power supply externally is a viable solution why can we not simply run a powered hub between the card reader (or camera) and H320? I tried it and could not obtain a successful connection. I would have thought that a powered hub ( external power supply) would do the same thing?
Any comments appreciated.... TonyG. |

A powered hub will power the device attached to the hub (camera, USB drive, etc), but does not power the device you attach it to (your iriver). You need to power both your USB device and the iriver's 5v USB pin.

OMG. Does this still apply or is there a point where they made units that all you had to do was flash to E or K formware. I just bought a used H340 and thought all I had to do to get USBOTG was flash to foreign firmware. I'm totally bummed out now.
I could've gone for a Korean H340... not sure if I could've gotten it at the same price though. |

Why doesnt mystic river or someone else make these and sell them! They would be a hit! I would by one especially if it didnt look homemade! I sure hope someone does because im not technical enough to make one! Would Mystic river even be able to make and sell these?
