Things I love about my H300:
  • USB Mass Storage: Meaning simply drag and drop files without needing special software
  • Firmware Upgradable: The firware can be updated or even changed to Rockbox
  • Video: Though not a good video player it's definitely not a terrible one.
  • No DRM: I don't want or need DRM support.
  • Both AC and USB charging: I love the fact that it has AC adaptor charging as well as USB charging.
  • Storage space: Nice and big. (40 gigs)

I just got back from Cambodia where they have BOOM BOOM rooms. Take your MP3 player in and load it with files at 70c an album !!!!.

So i just make a list from their menu whcih is a veritable bible of any and every music known to man ,plug mine into the USB and 20 minutes later I walk out with about 10gB of new music for US$20.

Now tell me .....does it get any better ?

WHAT DO I LOVE ? DRAG AND DROP ! This is the main reason i bought my H320 and it is my first and only MP3 player. I hated it for the first 2 months as I loaded K1.29 and rockbox and fiddled around but now.....I would be shattered if i lost it.

I just wish it was 100GB !

Absolutely everything. I have had HD players/recorders since the original Archos tank and have Archos, RCA, Creative, and you name it and have tried out Ipoos and NOTHING holds a candle to a good old fashioned H3xx iRiver and coupled with Rockbox, it cannot be beaten.

I don't go anywhere, even to bed, without it.

In one word... EVERYTHING! (or almost, see the last paragraph)

Equalizer modes, drag and drop, the size (40GB), the portability, the battery life, the volume, the sound quality, the videos, the radio, the recording from any source capabilities (WITHOUT ENCODING IT WITH DRM), the inskins, the LCD joystick remote, USB charging, charging times, the feel (bold, massive, and solid though not bulky), the color screen, the look of the menus/wps/charging screen/booting screen/etc., the possibility to change the looks of the menus/wps/charging screen/booting screen/etc., the upgradable firmware, USB OTG, the clock, new firmware is still being released for it even though it is an older model, headphone line and line out, line in, this may surprise you but I actually do love the learning curve, it can brush my teeth (ok mabe not, but with a firmware update? Or a mod?)... I'm sure I'm still missing stuff but I don't want to repeat myself. And I haven't installed rockbox yet!

The settings... Oh the setting... I read the manual throughly many times and I have lost track of how many times I changed the settings on my player. Even after all that I am still finding new stuff when I look at the options and try new settings... The only problem is sometimes I forget how do activate (or deactivate) a specific option... Especially when having the option on is the standard so I think having this is an extra feature I activated so I'm trying to turn a feature off when I actually need to turn something on.

The only things I do not like about it is that It did not come with a battery pack (I made one for now and will be making a better one when I get a chance) and the case it came with does not allow access to the player (stock case without window, I will be replacing it soon)...

Here's what I love about my H340:

- the little rumble the HDD gives when it's starting up
- the physical size and weight
- the way it looks as it sits in its dock on my desk
- it's compatible with my Mac
- lots of themes available (for iriver firmware and Rockbox)
- lots of space
- great support on MR

and everything else I haven't mentioned that other people have!

BY FAR THE BEST DAP OR PHONE OR ANYTHING ANY OF MY FRIENDS HAVE!!
some friends have better screen resoloution
some have more memory
others look better
others are more compact
what do i say?
F*** YOU!!
cz i know mine has:
The best sound quality
The best features
The best for personalizing
The cheapest for repairing
The no nonsence drag & drop (itunes needs to be killed)
The best recording quality
The best for regognising formats
The best site (Misticriver)
& all the rest
its by far the best DAP in terms of quality & features not as good looking as ipod i admit but still at least you can personalize H3xx also it costs too much to keep an ipod. If anything goes wrong your pretty much buggered.

I LOVE MY IRIVER
best by far.

DEATH TO IPOOS !!

Talking Compared and contrasted

The first ever MP3 Player I had as the H340 back in 03 and I love it. But Considering its bulky size I got jealous of people with their little iPods fitting in their pocket so I sold the H340 and went for the Cowon iAudio which was slim and had video. But! I liked it for awhile but I never had the same satisfaction or attachment to that player like I did the H340? A few lesser known players later I find myself looking for a new H320 which I just learned is not as bulky as the 40gb version! Now I am the proud owner of an H320 with 1.29 k firmware and have created my own Skin, thinking about in Skinning but don't have the balls yet . I love the sound and features, its the mySpace of MP3 players because of all the pimping you can do!

i also have ipod 5th gen but iriver is the best! best dap ever made

the best sound, file support (OGG ftw!) recording, rockbox, size, connectivity, . compared to ipod the iriver feels like a brick, in nice way lolz

i never watch videos using dap but i think the ipod has better video due to higher resolution & file support but then again i never watch videos on the thing

file tree

File tree I love the fact you can organize by file tree without having to spend hours tag editing. I tryed several players after my firs h320 died and heated the fact they couldnt do something as simple as file tree that's why I went for a referb h320

Unfortunately this has to be written in past tense, due to a dropping, but I /loved/:

Effortless Japanese/Korean/Chinese text support
Appropriate size for my music library (40gb)
Incredible sound quality and equalizer settings
No need for proprietary software
OGG support

These features can simply NOT be found in any modern player. It amazes me that irivers' older technology can be so superior in meeting my needs compared to anything else out there today...

I agree, I agree!

I have to agree with what just about everyone above said. I've tried a lot of
MP3 players and I still love my H320. ROCKBOX!!!!

Truthfully, even without RockBox I would still take it over all the others. The sound quality and the EQ are the best.

The space and the feel and the look of the H320/340 still has punch!

1600 songs and growing!

I'm pushing 60, but I won't grow up.

People ofter take my immaturity for youth. They think I'm younger...

Cool!

Keep the H300 Series alive forever!

I really dig the poster above me! Gives me hope for the future....

Nice, Wulf! I still have and love my H320, even with the horrible battery life (Thank qwert-e for the external batt pack!!!!) and am sincerely torn as to whether or not I'm going to "cash-in" my extended warranty at the end of this year....

What i love the most is the ability to record through the libe in. but what i don't like the most is the fact that you can't adjust the recording level, while recording. and that there is no mic in. But i guess if it had that, it would be about 100$ more expensive and be considered semi-professional recording equiptment.

Can't remember if I posted here or not. Oh well. I love my H320 because it just works. Even before RockBox I loved it more than any other player out there and I still do. The interface is easy to use and isn't ugly, though you can fix that if you want to. I like that it's somewhat big but not hueg, it feels like you actually got something for your money as to many other players where it's like you bought a feather. It's uuber durable and the battery life, even before upgrade, was impressive. Personally, I think it's one of, if not the best DAP out there.
